I've wanted to get chickens for so long. Unfortunately they're not allowed here, but I tried to get my folks to get some, they can have 4 per house in their neighborhood, but spotted a red fox down the street from their house last week...and he looked scrawny and hungry. I've heard too many stories like yours... One day, I hope to get chickens and will be careful like you are now, I do not want to be in your situation.
